Welcome
I am a licensed psychologist with over 20-years experience in working with adults to help cultivate happiness and lasting joy. My style is collaborative: we will work together to set goals and determine a psychotherapy plan that is right for you.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, more than a quarter of American adults experience depression, anxiety or other forms of distress, often in relation to coping with life issues such as relationship troubles, job loss, bereavement, stress or adjustment to chronic medical issues. You are not alone.
Approach
Our work together will be grounded in dialogue, and occur in a supportive and compassionate environment in which you will feel truly listened to. I offer a variety of integrated and scientifically validated approaches to help transform the thought and behavior patterns that are keeping you from feeling your best including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness based strategies or psycho-education about stress management, relaxation and sleep hygiene. I also maintain a meditation practice and for those who may be interested, offer techniques that are informed by Buddhist psychology. We will address your concerns as well as strengthen resilience and interpersonal wellbeing to help you thrive.
Credentials
I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Derner Institute at Adelphi University, and am recognized by the National Register of Health Service Providers. I completed internship training and am on the clinical faculty at NYU School of Medicine. I have specialized training in mind body medicine from the Benson Henry Institute at Harvard, and am certified to offer compassion training by the Stanford School of Medicine's Center for Compassion & Altruism Research and Education. I am a founding board member and teacher for the Compassion Education Alliance, and on the faculty of the Center for Compassionate Leadership.
